Overview of GolfBuddy LR7
Today the golf rangefinder I am going to review is GolfBuddy LR7S. As we all know, Golfbuddy is famous for its affordable price yet high-quality products.
So I decided to try one of their proud accomplishment I.e. LR7S. I wasn’t disappointed at all with how it turned out to be. The LR7S is a cost-effective unit that does everything a Bushnell can do at about 2/3 the price.
GolfBuddy LR7S Golf Rangefinder has a laser that projects to the area you have indicated, it measures the distance based on the time it takes to reach the target and return to the device again.
To give you the possibility of making the golf course better visible and taking the best measures, it has different modes or functions, among which you can vary according to the conditions of the golf course, the game or your preferences.
These modes include:
- Standard: It is the normal mode that provides the target location like any other common golf rangefinder.
- Scan: This mode enables you to measure the distance of varying target thanks to the 10-second continuous scan intervals.
- Pin: Just like scan modes it also measures the distance of varying targets but it provides the distance of the nearest target to you.
- Pin finder: same as pin mode combined with a confirming vibration.

What I liked amongst the modes is the “Pin Finder Mode”, which vibrates once it locks onto a target. To be fair, it does take a steady hand and a little practice to scan and press.
Like all Rangefinders, it may spit out a crazy yardage number once in a while which doesn’t make sense, but patience and practice enable good readings.
What sold me on finally getting this unit is the slope-adjusted yardage readings feature, I test drove both the Tour V4 & LR7S and it makes a HUGE difference knowing exact distances to the pin on an elevated green.
The LR7S carrying case is good quality ballistic material, way better than the Nikon Rangefinder cheap cases. It also seemed to be lighter (7.6 oz) than the Tour V4 and since I walk the course it didn’t add bulk to my golf bag. I do wish the LR7S was waterproof, although the unit is water-resistant.
It also has a slope compensation feature to adjust according to the elevations of the slope. If you want to buy a device that has this function you must make sure that you can deactivate it whenever you want, as there are some tournaments where it is not allowed to use the Slope.
Since I play in tournaments so I was a little uncertain whether it will have the deactivation feature or not. Well lucky me, it does have an on and off feature for slope compensation.
Before buying anything, it is good that you make sure you choose a quality model.
Even if you are looking for an economical device, the rangefinder has to be resistant to different conditions, so you can use it outdoors without inconvenience.
You will be happy to know that LR7S is water-resistant, though it might not be waterproof so you cannot use it in rainy areas.

The capacity, features, and design of the LR7S model have led many golf experts to begin to consider it as possibly the best brand of golf rangefinders today and I am totally sold out on this unit as well.
So, If you want a cost-effective Rangefinder that has all the bells & whistles of a Bushnell without spending a ton then I recommend the LR7S.
I used LR7S for more than one month, and I was impressed by its quality and features. The ergonomic body design matches the expensive rangefinders present in the market.
In conclusion, LR7S is a golf rangefinder with 6x magnification and 4 different modes for all kinds of users. You can use it in tournaments without worrying about the legal consequences.
Battery life is also impressive, so you don’t need to worry about the battery dying during the game.
